Cryptid Creeks is a ttrpg Carved from Brindlewood that combines the mystery, horror and coming-of-age genres to emulate media we love, such as The Goonies, Gravity Falls, Night in the Woods, Stranger Things, Lumberjanes, and Hilda.

In this RPG, you play a crew of River Scouts setting out to save Clawfoot—the place you call home. Guided by a benevolent cryptid called the Watcher, you will travel the waterways, track down Clues to dangerous Curses and break them before it’s too late! All the while, an eldritch figure known as the Peddler schemes from the shadows, willing you to fail, and for Clawfoot to fall.

Cryptid Creeks features 300+ pages filled with the beautiful full-colour art and accessibility considerations you have come to expect from Hatchlings Games.

• A comprehensive guide to running the game as Navigator.

Cryptid Creeks is inspired by other tabletop RPGs, such as Brindlewood Bay, The Silt Verses, Monster of the Week, Kids on Bikes, and Sleepaway. It is low-prep, highly accessible and suitable for teens and adults alike.

We fully intend to support this game moving forward, starting with a BackerKit crowdfund in February 2025 to illustrate, edit, and print our first anthology of Curses, entitled Ripples.
